Frequently Asked Questions

What makes Forevermark diamonds special?
Each Forevermark diamond is a precious diamond. Every Forevermark diamond has been responsibly sourced, and can only be selected if it has met rigorous standards of business, social and environmental integrity at every step of its journey.

Every Forevermark diamond is inscribed with the Forevermark icon and a unique identification number (using patented technology designed by the De Beers Group). The inscription at the heart of the diamond is a promise that the diamond has been carefully selected to meet Forevermark’s standards of quality and integrity.  The individual number identifies it always to be uniquely yours.

What is the inscription?
The inscription is a unique icon, and identification number, inscribed upon carefully selected diamonds. The actual size of the inscription is only 1/20th of a micron deep and can be seen with a special Forevermark viewer. It provides an assurance that this is a precious diamond which has been carefully selected and set apart as something very special.

What is the Forevermark promise?
Cut and polished by some of the world's leading diamantaires Forevermark is a promise that this diamond has been set apart from others - that it is a precious diamond. It is a promise that the diamond has been preciously cared for from the moment it was extracted from the earth, until master craftsmen were able to unleash its beauty, to the setting of the diamond in an exquisite piece of jewellery. It is also an assurance of the diamond's absolute integrity.

Diamonds are one of Africa's natural resources and are a powerful force for development. Forevermark diamonds have been sourced from mines where the diamonds bring real benefits to people, communities and countries. Forevermark diamonds come from mines in countries, such as Botswana, Namibia or South Africa where people are committed to creating a more prosperous future for themselves through the success of the local diamond industry.

Who is behind Forevermark?
Forevermark diamonds are carefully selected, preciously cared for throughout their journey and have to meet the highest diamond industry standards of the De Beers group Best Practice Principles. These principles promise that each Forevermark diamond is genuine, natural and untreated. These principles, also promise that Forevermark diamonds have been handled by people and companies who adhere to the highest standards. These principles are monitored by an independent third party, who ensure all the Forevermark diamond facilities are inspected on an annual basis to ensure they meet these exacting standards.

How are the icon and unique identification number inscribed?
Diamonds which are 0.18 carats and above in size; SI2 clarity and above; K colour and above are individually and carefully examined by De Beers group experts and if eligible, they are inscribed with a unique identification number and the icon using highly advanced proprietary technology. The actual size of the inscription is only 1/20th of a micron deep and can be seen with a special Forevermark viewer.

Does the Forevermark inscription affect the clarity or grading of a diamond?
No, absolutely not. The Gemmological Institute of America have confirmed that the Forevermark inscription does not affect the internal quality of the diamond.
